Waiting for test results!!

None really, maybe a little bloating and abdominal pain. This is the scary thing about ovarian cancer; few women have any symptoms at all.

I’ve had 3 surgeries total. The 1st was laproscopic when they discovered I didn’t have endometriosis, what they originally thought I had. That’s when they discovered that the 2 huge tumors were either cancerous or pre-cancerous. On the 2nd surgery they removed the 2 tumors and managed to save my ovaries, but the patholgy sent to Johns Hopkins came back showing a 6 mm invasive carcinoma in my right ovary, and the left ovary had a micro-invasive tumor. On January 29th, 2007, I had a total ovarian hysterectomy.

Paclitaxel(Taxol)/Carboplatin(Paraplatin) combination, intravenous, 4 treatments total, 3 weeks apart. My first treatment was Oct. 17th. The side effects weren’t been too horrible. Days 3-6 I felt really bad, but I never vomited! I just felt VERY weak, and VERY sick. I was so pale I scared myself in the mirror, and sometimes I felt so bad I couldn’t even talk. I had HORRIBLE constipation like never before, and I still have heartburn, which I never got before.

Bio-identical HRT in the form of transdermal creams: includes Bi-estrogen, Progesterone, and Testosterone…started March 2007.

No side effects to speak of so far! I highly recommend seeing a HRT specialist to look into bio-identical HRT. After reading “What your doctor may not tell you about menopause” I refuse to go on the “conventional” synthetic hormones most doctors prescribe.

mowgli
This is Mowgli getting ready for the big move…taking it all in stride! He thinks all of the furniture moving around is tons of fun…runs over and through it all like a big jungle gym. Meanwhile, the dogs follow us around with a look on their faces like “Oh crap, we’re moving. I just KNOW you’re planning on tying us up to the tree out back and leaving us here!”

Hi everyone!

I actually wrote a long, detailed post yesterday explaining things of late, and somehow I managed to erase it while trying to upload a photo…arrghh! So, instead of trying to remember what I wrote I’m just going to outline it.

1) Irvin was admitted to the hospital saturday night and just got home yesterday. He had an acute infection from diverticulitis…no kidding. He’s ok, we’re ok.

2) Insurance companies are evil.

3) We’re moving cross country with 3 dogs and a cat next tuesday, from Arizona to Portland Maine. 6 days on the road with a uhaul trailer…animals may end up in the trailer…just kidding…I might end up in the trailer though. My happy thought is playing on the beach with husband and dogs.

4) I’m toying with the idea of not actually having cancer at the moment…abd. ct scan came back clean!

5) You all rock, and if I ever make it big I’m flying all of us to hawaii for a week to really get to know each other.

6) Insurance companies are evil.

7) What do I do with thousands in accumulating medical bills?

8) I have 3 job interviews lined up for the week I get to Portland; all at veterinary hospitals. Wish me luck! (hopefully they have health benefits!)

Love you all to bits!

Also, I want to welcome one of our newest buddies, Moe http://users.blogforacure.com/life4moe. Stop by her blog and say hello!

I am laughing at your comment about what your dog is thinking, so true. You cat is too cute. Animals are so good for the soul. Sorry to hear about Irvin. Keep us updated. Good luck in the move. Yikes, that is going to be one crazy week. Love the new hair!

OT. Just to let you know that tonight on News at 10:00 Ch 15. Two gals are going to do a interview on Mammosite Treatment. Carmen is a friend of mine, the other is a friend of hers. They will show the treatment that we went through. This is only showing here.

Hug Sherri

You look fantastic! The cat is precious. I’ll pray for your move to go really, really well. Clean cat scan? YEA! Glad to hear Irvin is okay. Yes, ALL insurance companies are evil! There has to be another way.
I’ll pray for you to make it big. Hawaii sounds wonderful. Same here. If I ever make it big, we’re all headed there. We’ll rent a condo and have a blast.
Drive safely. Don’t over do. Things can wait if you’re tired. Treat your body well. I’d say let Irvin do everything, but he needs to heal too. So – do a little each day. Also – put pictures of you all on the beach.
Hugs!
Karen

Awe your cat is so pretty. Black cats tend to be more spunky I’ve noticed, very mischievous hehe. I wish you the best of luck with the move and all those animals and I hope your husband is okay :) I’m also glad that the CT scan results came back clean. Whoohoo! :D

YOU LOOK GREAT! If you stop in Philadelphia, which isn’t on the way… but if you do, let me know! I love portland maine!

Helo Tanya, I am glad to see you are doing well. I wanted to respond to your question about children .I did not have a hysterectomy the dr. was able to save my left ovary so there is still hope that I can have children. My husband and I are going to go through the whole infertility thing. If we ever get enough money saved upI feel my clock ticking away everyday.
hope all is well with you ,Kara

Sounds like you have a busy life. Thank you so much for sharing it with all of us. And I wanted to thank you for commenting on my blog a few days ago. You said it right when you said sometimes we get cancer head, but I stopped thinking about what if’s and am going to enjoy life…..
Thanks again!
