Waiting for test results!!

None really, maybe a little bloating and abdominal pain. This is the scary thing about ovarian cancer; few women have any symptoms at all.

I’ve had 3 surgeries total. The 1st was laproscopic when they discovered I didn’t have endometriosis, what they originally thought I had. That’s when they discovered that the 2 huge tumors were either cancerous or pre-cancerous. On the 2nd surgery they removed the 2 tumors and managed to save my ovaries, but the patholgy sent to Johns Hopkins came back showing a 6 mm invasive carcinoma in my right ovary, and the left ovary had a micro-invasive tumor. On January 29th, 2007, I had a total ovarian hysterectomy.

Paclitaxel(Taxol)/Carboplatin(Paraplatin) combination, intravenous, 4 treatments total, 3 weeks apart. My first treatment was Oct. 17th. The side effects weren’t been too horrible. Days 3-6 I felt really bad, but I never vomited! I just felt VERY weak, and VERY sick. I was so pale I scared myself in the mirror, and sometimes I felt so bad I couldn’t even talk. I had HORRIBLE constipation like never before, and I still have heartburn, which I never got before.

Bio-identical HRT in the form of transdermal creams: includes Bi-estrogen, Progesterone, and Testosterone…started March 2007.

No side effects to speak of so far! I highly recommend seeing a HRT specialist to look into bio-identical HRT. After reading “What your doctor may not tell you about menopause” I refuse to go on the “conventional” synthetic hormones most doctors prescribe.

Biopsy a breeze.Views: 235

(if you look closely you can see my scar that I proudly strutted around with)

Hi everyone,

I had a hard time logging on for the past few days…Jill says she’s had a little bit of trouble with the site. Some day when I’m filthy rich (or at least have 10 extra bucks) I will be sending her a very large donation! We should all take the time to give her a great big cyber-hug for everything she’s done here!

Anyway, the biopsy was so much easier than I thought. Once again, incompetent nurses trying to find iv veins was the worst part. Fortunately she gave up after two tries and had someone else do it. They gave me a combo of valium and morphine right before the biopsy, so I was nearly asleep on the table. I remember the doctor touching my back with what felt like his finger and asking me if I could feel it. Nope. Not even when I heard the click of the biopsy gun taking a chunk of the noodle! I spat up blood a few times afterwards, but no other problems really…just a little sore.

So they think it’s probably inflammation from an infection, but couldn’t be sure so they sent it to pathology. Hopefully monday I’ll know!
Other health news…my CA-125 came back at 15. Very good, but I’d like to see it at 4! I also FINALLY saw the results from my hormone tests, and guess what, I don’t have any! Estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone are all low, so I’ll start my natural hrt next week. Other fun results, my cholesterol has gone up, so now I need to think about that.

Mexico was a blast… we pretty much just sat on our balcony and listened to the ocean. (ok, alcohol was involved) I practiced my spanish a bit, Irvin is happy about that…especially helpful when I had to find something for a gringa sunburn!

The other night my mom and I had a girls night and dyed our hair. Yes, I have hair! Ok, not much, but enough for now. I actually really like it and may do it again…but maybe I should wait until after the job interviews, huh?

Can’t figure out why this is sideways after I upload it…just turn your head! ; – )

Yea! So glad it went well. Mexico sounds like fun. Wish I liked wine – there are times I could use it. :) Anyway, I’m so thankful the biopsy went well. Do post a picture of all of you on the balcony or of the ocean.
Hugs!

Love the hair color :). Glad you had a great time, and you look adorable in that bathing suit.

You certainly do look fantastic in that bathing suit! And the ocean – sigh – it looks fantastic. I’m so glad you got to go. Your hair is cute that color.
Hugs!

Tanya – Thanks for the nice comment. It means a lot to me. Your hair looks GREAT! I LOVE the pink.

Just to cute!
