My animal-spirit-buddy to help me stay strong…
Good morning everyone!
I slept like a log last night and had intense dreams all night long.
First dream… Irvin and I were driving to Maine (where we’re moving in 2 months), through the snow, but it was really beautiful along the way. I remember we had all of our stuff with us and we were worried we couldn’t carry it all. The snow storm got really bad along the way, but we managed to stop and go sledding and have a little fun! Along the way different people were in the car with us, friends and family . And then the storm was so bad and the roads were more like rocky trails, and we had to get out and walk. We still managed to bring something to play music, very important I guess. I remember getting so tired, barely able to keep up, and the stuff I was carrying got too heavy. So Irvin carried it for me. We passed a beautiful lake, and forests, and then we finally saw the main road and we knew we were close and that we were going to make it. All true, no joke, I just woke up and it’s fresh in my mind.
Second dream… Dr.Comerci, the “Wizard-Surgeon” doing the surgery tomorrow, had done a video interview for someone regarding all this and Irvin and I were watching it. Dr. Comerci went on to explain that he had a very hard time deciding on the best protocol for me and was trying very hard to keep my fertility. He went on to state studies and other doctors’ recommendations to explain why he made the decision to do the hysterectomy. He pulled out his patient photo album, which in the dream was really video recordings, of all has past hysterectomy patients. They were all swimming together in a lake, with bikinis on showing off their big scars, laughing and smiling with their husbands and CHILDREN. Dr.Comerci narrated saying that they’re all still living and healthy, and it was because of his decision to do the hysterectomy. And then he started crying and they had to end the video interview. No joke, no exaggerations. Yes, my dreams have always been a little intense, so this isn’t too strange for me.
I’m feeling at peace this morning, believe it or not. I’m going to keep those dreams in my mind today and tomorrow. 2 days ago I was freaking out, nearly panicking. A lot of yoga has helped! This morning I’m going to another yoga class, then to rent movies for monday, and then the bowel prep! Yeah! (I’m drinking coffee with cream now, already breaking the rules…) Last time it cleaned me out a little too well, and I was still running to the potty the next day while hooked up to my iv waiting to be knocked out!
So there won’t be any updates for a few days…hopefully I’ll be home by Thursday!
Love to you all…
Tanya
ps- If any friends or family don’t know yet, the surgery is at 9 AM (arizona time), and it’s at the Desert Banner hospital on Dobson and Southern in Mesa, 480-512-3000. I’ll have my cell phone, but best bet is to call Irvin’s cell if you want to check in. 602-312-3686.

I was thinking about you today… and how you were probably getting ready for the bowl prep.
I’ve always had intense dreams too. When I was bald I had the most intense dreams about having hair again.
Best of luck tomorrow and hopefully tonight you will sleep well too.
Keep us posted. We are all rooting for you!
Glad you are feeling at peace. you will be in my thoughts all day tomorrow. love the photo!
Oh Tanya,
My thoughts are SO with you. You’ll be right up there in them all day tomorrow also. Irvin, I’ve never met you but I can’t tell you how much I like you already. Can’t wait to see Tanya and met you this summer.
Irvin, if it’s OK, I’d like to call you tomorrow.
Tanya, you’ll be in my thought every minute.
Love, Janie
Best of luck Tanya. Dr. Commerci did my hysterectomy (I was very lucky, no cancer) and he is the best! Good luck with the insurance company. I will be following your story and sending positive thoughts your way.

Hello,
New reader of your blog here and also another woman who was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. I’m not into blogs much but I came across yours in search of ovarian cancer support bracelets and I’m so glad I did. I’ve read quite a few posts of yours just out of curiosity and I must say it really put me at ease. I’m 18 and was diagnosed with this cancer last month and it’s been scary, so far chemo is alright I suppose but I think it may get worse as time progresses. All of the posts I’ve read are positive and even though there is an age difference some of the things you’ve said is helping me keep my head above the water and I just wanted to toss a little thank you for…hm… existing :)
Dear Tanya,
Hope your surgery was (RELATIVELY) easy and that by now you are getting your first tastes of yummy clear broth. Ah, hospital food!
Seriously, I hope the pain is minimal, the healing is flowing, and that all your friends and loved ones realize that you’ll now need a minimum of six weeks of rest and, especially, SUPPORT.
Hello Everyone,
Just wanted to update everyone on Tanya’s surgery. The Doctor said it went as expected and now she is recovering. She was able to take two short walks yesterday and at least there is no gas pain like in the prior surgeries. That was one of the hardest things for her. She is still on a liquid diet but hopefully this will change today. Everyone at the hospital has been great, so supportive, specially after learning about the insurance situation. Which by the way, the story made front page on Monday in the East Valley Tribune. Tanya wanted me to share the link so here it is:

I am looking forward to Tanya being back home, she is getting tired of being in the hospital. She has been so brave, i am sooo lucky and proud to have a wife like her…. Thank you everyone for all your kind words and support. Ill keep everyone posted but feel free to call me if you want at 602.312.3686.
Adios
Hold on here come a hug to both of you.
Front page. The best way to prove a point.

Tanya was simply amazing before, during, and after surgery, and is happily on her way home. Thank you all for your love, support and prayers. You kept her strong and positive. Tanya excelled in every way…always making “others” feel better and always pleasant. I am a “very” proud Mom. She was more concerned about my comfort than hers, especially while I attempted sleep for three nights on a most unusual reclining chair. We will continue to make every day “special”. Tanya’s Mom
Thanks for the update. Tanya – so glad you are feeling well and the surgery is over with.
So glad to hear that you’re home. It all just gets better from here on out. Let everyone who loves you pamper you – you deserve it! Get losts of rest but walk as much as you are able – it really helps.
